Our Vision

We have always enjoyed hosting outdoor get-togethers, and whether we have 8 guests or 80, we always seem to end up gathered around a warm fire.

Now that we have settled in Travelers Rest & have the space to create, we would like to help bring the experience we enjoy so much to others in the upstate. All of our firepits & accessories are designed & built right here in our workshop using repurposed materials & steel from local providers.

Our expertise

After 30+ years together (AND we still like each other😉), and backgrounds in art and engineering, we have enjoyed blending our skills to create beautiful and functional products that will last a lifetime. Made from heavy gauge steel, our firepits will never rust through and will instead develop a beautiful surface patina over time – each one different depending on use and the environment in which it lives. Every firepit purchase includes a poker to manage the fire. That is our little thank you, from us to you, for becoming part of the FIREPIT Nights family. In addition to our firepits, we also offer several products to enhance their form and functionality, such as snuffer lids, grilling accessories, and firewood racks. Take a look!

In addition to sales, we also offer our products and services for a variety of occasions. Birthday parties, corporate events, fundraisers, festivals, breweries, open houses, charity events, weddings, outdoor markets – we do it all!

How Does it Work?

You will always get Matt and me, as the only way to be sure that all is done the way we would do it is to, well… do it ourselves! We will set up our custom base, which protects any surface that we place the firepit upon, get the fire blazing, maintain it throughout your event, and clean up at the event’s end. All you need to do is enjoy! We use only seasoned hardwoods, which reduces smoke and sparks. We also include camp chairs and cornhole boards if you feel that they would fit the vibe of your event.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know about our handcrafted firepits

You can realistically expect 30+ years of use if cared for properly. One thing you want to avoid is water sitting in the base of the bowl, as wet ash will create lye, which causes a chemical reaction with the steel. With the 1/2" drain hole, this likelihood is lessened, but you need to be sure to check that the hole is not blocked and preventing drainage. A simple solution is to simply cover your firepit with a snuffer lid when you are ready to end your evening, and scoop out any remaining ash before your next burn.
Yes, and it just gets better with time! Depending on the environment your firepit lives in, it will oxidize and develop a patina over time that gradually changes from a dark orange, to brown, to almost black color once the process is complete. As the progression occurs, that surface rust actually acts as a protective barrier against the elements.
The best material for under your firepit is stone, whether that's one big piece, or something like pea gravel or river rock. Matt designed a base from plywood and concrete pavers that we use when we do rental service that protects any surface. We would be happy to share that design with you!
You bet! We have done something as small as Christmas stocking hangers, to as large as bear-resistant garbage bins and fireplace mantles! Table legs, signage, gates, stair railings, shelving, artwork... we love new and different projects!
All of our products are made right here in the Upstate of South Carolina! We have a full fabrication shop on our property in Travelers Rest. Matt and I do all of the work ourselves, and so have free reign to modify and customize our products in ways that bigger, mass-production shops would typically not accommodate. If we have the equipment and skill to do it, we are game! If you have an idea, throw it out there!
Our shop in Travelers Rest has a display area with all of our products. We are open by appointment, and would welcome a visit! Oftentimes, it helps to see the firepit options side by side to determine what may work best in your space. We also have three sweet goats who live behind the shop and LOVE animal crackers, which we keep stocked at all times! They would also love a visit!
I can tell you what we have heard from our customers who have had some of those other options: Big box store firepits rust through after 1-2 years of use and have to be thrown out. Manufactured block and stone firepits "hide" the fire and block the heat. "Smokeless" firepits do not radiate the heat or "feel" the same. Our firepits will last 30+ years, we have 3 options for the shape of the bowl so YOU decide how much of the fire you see, and they radiate a TON of heat! In terms of the smoke, that has much to do with the wood you burn. Soft woods such as pine and poplar will create the most smoke and spark. If you burn well-dried oak, hickory, cherry and other hard woods, those things are minimized.
We typically do not ship due to exorbitant costs. Though if it is something that you are insistent upon and choose to take on that cost, we can make it happen. We do offer free delivery and setup anywhere within Greenville County, and are willing to work with you if you are outside of that area. We are pretty flexible on this point.
